Adverse
Drug Events (ADEs) result in more than
2.1 million injuries each year, and the
Journal of the American Medical Association
reported that 100,000 Americans die annually
of adverse reactions to prescription drugs.
These cases can be easily avoided using
a real-time prompt such as the Medinotes e Drug Interaction Module.
MediNotes
is pleased to offer full Drug Interaction
functionality to our existing prescription,
medication history and allergy history
features. This utility tracks the patient's
allergies and current/past medications
against any new medications that are being
prescribed. This module utilizes a comprehensive
database of known interactions and prompts
the user using stoplight indicators on
the prescription dialog.

Stoplight warnings protect
your patients from the possibility of
an interaction:
- Green
means that no interactions are indicated
- Yellow
means that there is a possible interaction
- Red
indicates a known interaction
Note:
For users that
have implemented Synchronization, after
loading the drug interactions library
the initial synch will be somewhat lengthy.
Testing has shown that the initial synch
can be two or more hours. Please ensure
that you have ample time before starting
this synch, as stopping the synch during
processing could cause damage to your
stored data. Subsequent synchs will return
to normal duration.
